(gown - 6 & 12 months; dress – children’s size 2 – 12)

A simple high yoke for the christening gown and a to-the-waist bodice for the dress become the canvas for an interesting new technique which I call “braided lace.” Strips of ribbon and lace are stitched together, cut into 60º triangles, and reassembled into a lovely band that looks like a wide braid. This band is bordered with more ribbon and lace. The gown and Dress A feature this band traveling around the skirt, which is finished with wide lace edging. Dress B showcases the braided lace on the bodice, with a lace and ribbon strip edging the skirt. Dress A has a simpler bodice treatment, and a lace-edged Peter Pan collar. Both dresses have traditional puffed sleeves finished with lace and entredeux cuffs, and tie with ribbon sashes at the back waist. The long gown has long sleeves, and displays some simple silk ribbon embroidery on the plain front panel and yoke. The necklines of the gown and Dress B are finished with entredeux and gathered edging.
